In January 2021, China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) jointly held the 9th China-US Economists Symposium online, with the theme of “China-US Economic and Financial Relations in the New Era”.
Taking place right around President Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Symposium brought together leading economists from the two countries for in-depth exchange on the bilateral relations going forward, and explored possibilities for cooperation, management of disagreements, as well as more effective engagement under the new U.S. administration.
The symposium had three sessions, two on January 16 and one on January 23. The first session kicked off focusing on the prospects for China-US financial and trade relations.
The second session revolved around the potential areas and approaches for bilateral cooperation under the Biden administration.
The third session on January 23 concentrated on “Managing the Coexistence of Financial Opening and Decoupling”.
