On June 20, 2020, China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) and Nomura Research Institute (NRI) jointly held the 10th CF40-NRI Finance Roundtable via a virtual conference. The theme of discussion was "COVID-19's Impact on Chinese and Japanese Economies and Policy Suggestion for Future Recovery".
The Roundtable consisted of two sessions. The first session, moderated by CF40 Secretary-General Wang Haiming, centered on the two countries' policy response to COVID-19 and economic recovery. Professor Yu Yongding, CF40 advisor and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), talked about the current situation of the Chinese economy and China's economic policy in 2020. Yu was followed by Mr. Masaaki Shirakawa, former Governor of the Bank of Japan, whose speech was titled The COVID-19 Pandemic and the World Economy.
The second session discussed international policy coordination and the global supply chain. Zhu Jun, CF40 Member and Director-General of the International Department of the People's Bank of China, focused her speech on Asia, especially the ASEAN countries. She was followed by Tomoyuki Fukumoto, Director-General of the International Department of the Bank of Japan. His speech touched on policy coordination and global supply chain amid the pandemic. The second session was moderated by Mr. Tetsuya Inoue, Chief Researcher of the Nomura Research Institute.
