At the invitation of IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, Shanghai Finance Institute (SFI) and the Institute of Digital Finance (IDF) at Peking University held a closed-door seminar with the IMF on Fintech in China on June 12, 2018 in Washington, DC. The theme of the conference was "FinTech & TechFin in China: Business Models, Market Structure, and Regulatory Challenges".
At the seminar, experts from China talked about the business model, market structure and regulatory practices of China's Fintech sector, and had exchanges with IMF economists and officials including First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton on the development and prospects of third-party payment, peer-to-peer lending and Fintech regulation.
This is the first time that the IMF held a seminar on a specific industry topic and the first time Chinese experience was heard.
