On April 19, 2015, CF40 held a seminar on the theme of Switching Business Tax to VAT in Financial Sector: Problems and Implications, which was also a research project sponsored by CF40.
Pan Gongsheng, CF40 Academic Committee member and Deputy Governor of PBOC first briefed the participants about the background of the research project. Lu Lei, CF40 member and Director-General of PBOC's Research Bureau then delivered a keynote speech on the thematic topic. The speech was followed by Gao Peiyong, Academician at China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and President of CASS National Academy of Economic Strategy. Then attendees had in-depth discussions on international experiences of applying VAT in the financial sector, and target and approaches of China's adoption of VAT. At the end of the seminar, Pan Gongsheng made summary remarks.
Also attending the seminar were Ji Zhihong, Director-General of PBOC's Financial Market Department and Gao Zhanjun, CF40 member and Managing Director of CITIC Securities among others.
The seminar was moderated by Wang Haiming, CF40 General-Secretary.
