During May 10-16, 2018, China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) carried out their annual exchange program in Beijing and Shanghai.
On May 12, the 7th CF40-PIIE China-US Economists Symposium took place in Beijing to discuss how to effectively manage bilateral economic relations. The Symposium consisted of three sessions themed around China and US economic outlook, how to effectively manage China-US trade relations, and China-US macroeconomic and financial policy coordination.
During their stay in Beijing, the PIIE delegation also paid visits to policymaking agencies, financial regulators and financial institutions, including the People's Bank of China, China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, China Securities Regulatory Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. PIIE experts had exchanges with their Chinese counterparts on issues of mutual concern, e.g. China-US trade tensions, bilateral investment, trade and financial policies, etc.
On the evening of May 16, PIIE and Pu Shan Foundation (PSF) held a dinner function in Shanghai to discuss the prospect of China's financing opening and the opportunities and challenges.
