On November 6, 2017, China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) hosted the 7th CF40 - Sun Yefang Book Club with Ms. Michele Wucker, global thought leader and author of the best-selling book The Gray Rhino: How to Recognize and Act on the Obvious Dangers We Ignore.
At the event, Ms. Wucker first gave a brief introduction of the gray rhino theory which she developed. She then shared with the audience a list of top gray rhinos for 2017 which she prepared at the beginning of the year.
Following Wucker's speeches, Lu Lei, CF40 Member and Deputy Administrator of China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange shared his thoughts on the book. Lu mentioned that the most serious gray rhino for China now is the volatility in the economy and financial market.
Following Lu Lei, Zhong Wei, CF40 Member and Director of the Finance Research Center at Beijing Normal University provided comments on the book, saying that to deal with China's gray rhinos, the country needs to crack down on illegal financial transactions, reform the tax system and improve the social security system.
The speeches were followed by a Q&A session with an audience of more than 250. Wang Haiming, CF40 Secretary-General chaired the discussion.
